Gazprom to supply settlements in Kaliningrad region with LNG
MOSCOW, Apr 19 (PRIME) -- Gas giant Gazprom intends to construct a plant to receive, store and regasificate liquefied natural gas (LNG) to supply gas to two settlements on the Curonian Spit in the westernmost Kaliningrad region at the Russian-Lithuanian border, the company said on Wednesday.
“The company is building three pipelines in the Krasnoznamyonsky district (of the Kaliningrad region). Besides, it plans to start projecting six more pipelines and a facility to store, receive and regasificate LNG intended for autonomous gasification of the Rybachy and the Morskoi settlements on the Curonian Spit,” the statement said.
Gazprom is presently building two branch pipelines for power plants in the cities of Gusev and Sovietsk. The company continues to expand the Kaliningradsky underground storage -- two additional reservoirs are to be launched in 2017. It also plans to commission a sea LNG regasification terminal this year to boost the region’s energy security.
